Humberside Taxis

Humberside Airport is a small airport (the thirty-third most used in Britain) situated in Kirmington, in the Borough of North Lincolnshire, providing easy access for travellers based in Lincolnshire, East Yorkshire and East Midlands. Owned by the Manchester Airport Group, the airport came close to closing in 2008 due to reduced user figures but management have since committed to keep it open for another three years at least.

To and From Humberside Airport by Taxi

Grimsby is a seaport town on the Humber Estuary in Lincolnshire and a popular romantic getaway. An economy taxi ride from the airport to Grimsby, approximately twelve miles away, takes around twenty five minutes and costs between £22-24 for an economy taxi.

Kingston-upon-Hull is fifteen miles from Humberside airport and has a range of cultural, historic and tourist attractions. New museum, The Deep, has attracted national acclaim as the world’s only ‘Submarium’ and The Ferens Art Gallery boasts an excellent permanent art collection and a changing programme of temporary exhibitions. A taxi ride outside of rush hour takes approximately thirty minutes from the airport and costs around £22-25.

The traditional holiday resort of Scunthorpe, in Lincolnshire, is also thirty minutes from Humberside airport. It is a destination particularly popular with family groups and elderly people and, like many British seaside towns, has seen a rise in visitors during the recent financial difficulties. Scunthorpe is a thirty minute taxi ride from the airport (outside of rush hour). An economy taxi from the airport costs between £22 – 25.

The small town of Bridlington is a warm-hearted seaside town, approximately twenty eight miles from Humberside airport. The cost of a taxi to Bridlington is typically between £50 and £60. With an attractive beach and good walking, it also has the Beside the Seaside Museum, a popular day out for family groups.

Normanby Hall Country Park in Lincolnshire is a Regency Hall set in 300 acres of parklands and gardens. The park offers woodland walks, deer, nature trails and an adventure playground. The park is approximately 24 miles from the airport, taking around 35 minutes and costing £30 - 35

Economy and group travel

A wide range of taxi and minicab companies serve Humberside airport, accommodating individuals, small groups and larger parties of between two and fifty passengers. Minicabs from the airport must be pre-booked as it is illegal for unlicensed taxi vehicles to solicit custom from a rank or by the road side. Taxis are vehicles licensed to be flagged down from the authorised rank outside the airport terminal –in which case they charge by a meter – or they can be pre-booked. If taxis are pre-booked they may offer a total price on request or may still charge by the meter. Humberside Airport is also served by companies specialising in vehicles for disabled travellers.

Taxis pick up from the rank directly outside the airport terminal.

A different class

Despite being small, Humberside Airport is a gateway to parts of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and is well served by a good range of taxi and mini-cab companies offering luxurious travel options including executive cars (Mercedes E or V Class) and limousines (stretch and Hummer) for extra-special nights out, weddings or business travel. Companies serving the airport with luxury vehicles offer a variety of added extras to choose from to suit various tastes and budgets and to ensure customers can travel in style and comfort. These include a Meet and Greet service (where the taxi driver personally meets customers in the terminal), a choice of music during the journey, optional refreshment breaks, on-board refreshments, champagne, Chauffeur service, DVD players, newspapers a choice of vehicle and baby and booster seats on request.

Executive and limousine services are popular with business people wanting to make a good impression on their clients, people travelling longer distances or desiring a stress-free end to their trip and those coming to Humberside for a celebration. Limousines are particularly popular with hen and stag parties coming to the area for a party weekend.

Of course prices for an executive service can be considerably more expensive than an economy taxi, reflecting the added comfort and style offered to customers. Where a journey from the airport to Hull city centre (a fifteen mile journey from the airport) typically costs £20-25, a four-seater saloon with executive service will cost £32-37, a Mercedes E Class or Bentley £55-60 and a Mercedes V Class People Carrier upward of £80.

Vehicles will either wait in the rank outside the airport terminal or, if a Meet and Greet service is required, will park in the airport’s short stay car-park with the chauffeur meeting customers in the terminal on arrival. Up-to-date flight reports are usually included as part of the service. Some companies don’t charge for car parking whilst others add it to the cost of the journey.
